Santa Monica, Laguna Niguel and Newport Beach

I’m in California for week with Ryan and while it’s not as cold as Vancouver, it’s still pretty chilly with highs of 15 and lows of 4. We spent 1 night at the Fairmont in a bungalow and caught the tail end of a conference for Ryan. While he was meeting I got to spend time with the guys who were there from Cayman.

The next day we headed out to the Ritz at Laguna Niguel — one of my favourite places in California — for 2 nights. I’ve posted about this place several times before if you search here

This is what the beach and hotel from the beach look like on a sunny day.

It was a bit overcast while we were there but still beautiful.

The gym at the hotel is also quite something else. The entire hotel is perched atop a cliff and so the view from this gym is probably the best I’ve ever seen.

During the day we explored the area a bit to a few small areas and a pier in San Clemente. We watched pelicans dive for fish. Along the way we stopped in for donuts. We are at our final destination in Newport Beach staying at this expanse resort, Pelican Hill.

We’re close to the Crystal Cove state park and shopping at Fashion Island and Balboa Island. Looking forward to sharing the rest of our trip here.
